What is a School-ParentTeacher Compact? A School-Parent Compact is a written commitment describing how all members of a school community (parents, staff, and scholars) agree to share responsibility for student learning. This compact helps bridge the learning connection between school and home. Effective Compacts: • Link to goals of the school improvement plan • Focus on student learning skills • Share strategies that staff, parents and scholars can use to improve student learning • Share strategies parents can use at home • Explain how teachers and parents will communicate about scholar progress • Describe opportunities for parents to observe, and participate in the classroom.
