  • Dr. Candace Williams is an Atlanta native and has 20 years of experience in Secondary Mathematics Education. Her interest in becoming knowledgeable in and about teaching bore her doctoral work, investigating teacher identity and how high expectations motivate learning and foster positive environments, support educational stakeholders and encourage teachers to illuminate success in the classroom. Dr. Williams helps and enhances student success using research-based practices and data-driven decision-making. Her philosophy invokes the growth mindset. It posits, “Knowing more about ourselves as teachers and teacher educators changes us, provokes growth, jolts us out of complacency – sometimes radically in ways that [are] transformative.” 

Kristen Thomas-Lorenzo has over 18 years of experience as an educator. She has taught Spanish and AVID as well as served as a Curriculum Coach. Mrs. Thomas-Lorenzo has held various positions during her career including Department Chair, School Improvement Team Chairperson,  Mentor, and Title 1 Facilitator. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Psychology and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. She is certified in Spanish (P-12) and English (6-12) with an endorsement in Teaching Support and Coaching.

Mrs. Thomas-Lorenzo’s teaching style has evolved throughout the years but students continue to be at the forefront. She believes that building relationships with students and providing them with a safe, caring and academically challenging environment will give them the confidence to rise to high expectations and take risks during the learning process. She uses hands-on activities, technology, collaborative work, and project-based learning to engage and activate students learning.

Ms. Ingram has been an educator in the DeKalb County School System for 23 years. During that time,  she has taught Advanced Placement, Honors and General Biology at Dunwoody High School and additionally served as the Science Instructional Leader for the last 4 years. She holds licensure in Science (6-12) and Gifted In-Field and Teaching Support and Coaching Endorsements. Her educational degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Toledo in Toledo, OH and a Master of Education with a concentration in Science Education from Georgia State University.

 She is committed to sharing her passion for STEM literacy and learning. She believes that fostering a collaborative culture, immersing students in academically challenging programs, and cultivating nurturing learning environments are essential to transforming schools in our educational system.
